An Era Gone..
without me noticing. I have been such a hermit. Only recently did i realise the era of Pete Sampras and Roger Federer - maybe not quite for him - have crept by in silence. was in silence at least to Hermit Chub.
And so the new No. 1 is this cute chap Rafael Nadal. eye-candy. woot.
And the 2 young guns Del Potro and Andy Murray. 19? 21? gawd, they gotta call me jiejie when they see me! in my dreams. woot woot.
Djokovic aint that dashing - maybe it's his hair - but his determinance to go after every single ball - and thereby twisting this foot and that back - strikes me. Men hard at work are always charming. woot woot woot.
Can I still vote Federer for US Open Grand Slam? wee wee!

for SOMEONE to remember.
I want to hold my solemnization in Hall. The MPSH will be a good choice. Spacious, air-conditioned and if i feel like it can add in the lighting effects. :P After all there is the CMB concert experience to my credit!
After that, we'll all go Comm Hall for a small buffet reception. Wonder if Uncle Vincent will be able to cook for us? Best, we'll simulate a 'tap-a-card, get-a-meal' - That will be so nostalgic!
Then we'll take photos around hall. My room. His room. Rooftop. Maybe Master's big balcony too? :P
Wonder how much it'll cost to get the officer down to Hall though. hmm.
Hee.

What will you do if you have a lot of time on hand?
if I have this long long break, I will most probably:
1. Blog every week.
2. No, Blog every day.
3. Scratch the above - Blog every hour.
4. Ask myself why I have so many things to blog about.
5. Ask myself why i bother asking myself why I have so many things to blog about.
6. Organise my photos into folders.
7. Re-organise my photos into sub-folders.
8. Develop those I know I will cry if my computer crashes and I don't have a hardcopy of.
9. Ponder again and decide to develop all photos as I think I will cry anyway for whichever photo is gone. I'm that emo. I know.
10. Think about what I'll do for that long long break.

Came and Gone.
my friends have proven to be the remedy for Cal's Overseas Loneliness Disease- aka COLD.
Pika, yeye and siao came to join me for 4 days in Hanoi. we had lots of fun this time, especially since it was over a weekend and public hols here and i had nothing much to do for work and was able to be with them 83.33333% of the time!
finally went to Halong Bay, yay! Suami n Ms Feng found it hot and boring previously. I guess we were luckier this time as The One up there obviously took a special liking to this noisy and fun-loving group of 4 and had neither a thunderstorm ( as Siao so firmly attests there will be) nor Mr Strong Sunshine.
lots of photos. Siao say will burn CD for me. Pika's will be uploaded after his Jap exams. cant wait for them. thanks for the company guys! I love u!
everytime someone joins me and leave, i'll feel extra down on the day they left or the day the fact that he/she's gone sinks in.. withdrawal syndrome. bleah.
LS today. could be the crab i had in Colleague T's house yesterday. was ngon tho!

WAHhhh.
this was the only response i could give Ms Feng when she related what happened to her friend's friend. i was flabbergasted.
It's one thing to exclaim 'it's my life n i do wat i wan' when people are all free and available to make any choice before the contract is inked.
It's another when they have both stamped and sealed the agreement.
why make yourself so pathetic?

Fun in Hanoi
i am lazy so this post won't have any pics. wait til i gather the mood to download from my sd card. or steal from shyan. :p
past few days were fun with Shyan around. At least i was out of the room more. at least i had company for breakfast, lunch n dinner. at least i can turn off the lights when i sleep.
If not for Shyan i will not have been to THAT KFC. I will not have gone down to Hoan Kiem lake AGAIN. I would not have drank so much coffee. I would not have eaten so many meals. I would not have tried Bobby Chinn. I will also not have done waxing - i had so sworn NOT to do it again. tmd.
altho Shyan was onebigirritatingkuku at TV times, he was still a joy to have around! (ok,give me that 20bucks u promised).
Here i am alone again. 10 more days. damn.

hung out at this ice cream store on sat afternoon aft all my appointments. the best thing about Vietnam is free wifi's everywhere. cleared emails, finished my report there! i love the decor in this shop - pink chairs and REAL bright yellow sunflowers. This is very close to the kind of concept i will like for mine!

I know International Friends' Week has past (or has it?), but i still wish to celebrate my friends.
You'll reach an age when it's not about how many friends anymore, it's about WHO they are.
And I so love mine.
In Sunny Singapore, there arent really trying circumstances for us to test our resilience. Not that we ever need them. There ARE already enough situations to make you see WHO your friends are. Sometimes, even outside of Singapore.
I have not noticed when it was that the word Friend has taken on a totally new meaning. You've spent your whole life with this word and suddenly it's presenting a different facet to you.
But i've noticed my ATTITUDE's changed though. I don't bother taking initiatives anymore with people who doesnt fall into my self-thoughtout definition. This is definitely non-offensive. It's purely from my own respect.
I used to have thoughts like: Hey but we just met, why are we meeting again?
Not anymore.
I realised that Friends are people whom you can meet and see everyday without feeling bored. you do not even notice you met last month, last week, yesterday or a few hours ago. for the same matter, you also do not sense the long period of non-meeting.
Fact is, you do not feel the sense of absence exactly because they are already in your heart.
Ok now you'll say you'll miss certain people when you don't see them for a period, so hey isnt that noticing the absence? No. It's not. It's accentuating their places in your heart.
Don't get it?
Nvm.
I do.
and it's all that matters.
I always feel Three aint enough. Million cheers to You, Chub's Friend.

The Happening
is a movie that probably will make you draw your knees, wrap around them, hide in a corner and do some serious thinking about Saving Gaia.
Read that N Shayamalan was inspired while walking through a forest/vast land/river/nature. whichever i cant recall. but the idea's that he got the plot when in touch with plants. with the weird character he is being protrayed as, no surprise if he says the plants communicated with him.
The way our Earth's turning out - unexpected showers in non-rainy seasons, ultra high temperatures in moderate climate, rising sea levels threatening to inundate Tuvalu - small wonder it's the plants' turn to retaliate.
What have we done?

Tribute
To the one who brought us swimming every weekend when we were young
To the one who asked us to punch his tummy in the absence of a punching bag, during his self-taught Taekwondo lessons
To the one who piggyback us just to make us laugh
To the one who put us on his shoulders so we could see above him
To the one who carried us to the bedrooms when we fell asleep watching tv
To the one who liked to drive me back to hall in my U days
To the one who now likes to drive me to and back from the airport.
To the one who likes to wash the dishes, now.
To the one whom I find awkward to say thank you to face-to-face.
To my Pa. Happy Father's Day.

SHABU SHABU!
seldom were we so efficient - read the feature in Sunday Times and off we went the following week! woohoo! (One) wish fulfilled!
Southern Ridges fun
No we did not go after the report in Life! last Saturday. We went BEFORE that can! Was so much fun though i got sunburnt and the peel is only just completed. never imagined we could have walked for a cool 2.5 hours ONE WAY. Never been up Mount Faber in the daytime too, and the view was fantastic. 3 years in NUS plus a couple of visits to Kent Ridge park and i've JUST only discovered that walkway.. Singapore aint that boring after all!
Singtel Grand Prix - the PRELUDE
one lazy Saturday afternoon, L and I were just reliving our Sec/JChood roaming ard Orchard Road and decided to pop by the F1 Simulator located on the ground just beside the Singtel HQ along Exeter Road. Go try it if you havent, it's free. Just as long as you are min 1.6m.. obviously i wasnt allowed to get involved in the excitment...
